Paper Hands drop debut single

Paper Hands is the brand new UK-based duo brought to life by two lifelong friends. Their journey started in the early 90s when Jordan Campbell and Billy Taylor were neighbours and immediately became friends, a bond that’s remained strong to this day.

Now Jordan lives in Ayr, Scotland, while Billy resides in Birmingham, however the geographic distance hasn’t prevented their creative partnership from flourishing. What started out as a simple WhatsApp voice note snowballed into an exciting new venture that sees lead vocalist Jordan and multi-instrumentalist Billy combine to create their own brand of indie pop music.

Now they share the first taste of their endeavour with their brand new debut single titled “Early Warning”. Delivering their original layered soundscape with touches of 80s stylings and a new wave sheen, with their debut single they offer a memorable track full of hook-driven vocal leads and a euphoric arrangement.

Commenting on the single, drummer, guitarist and bass player Billy shares, “Early Warning started life as nothing but a voice note but became the catalyst for us creating Paper Hands. As a song it is a pure and honest exploration of styles bonded together by a signature rawness we aim to preserve.”

Adding, “The way we write lyrics comes more from feeling than direct story telling or anecdotal referencing and ‘Early Warning’ is not exempt from this. This means that even to us, the songs meaning can change from time to time depending on how you listen to it. It also leaves it open to interpretation from whoever choses to listen to it.”

Produced by the duo themselves, “Early Warning” was mixed and mastered by Pete Maher who’s previous credits include the 1975, Maximo Park, The Killers and Snow Patrol. Making their introduction as Paper Hands, the band throw down a worthy debut single that builds excitement around them and confirms them as an act to watch this year and beyond.
