Indie pop duo Wotts make music from their bedrooms in the Canadian city of Ottawa. Featuring vocalist and multi-instrumentalist Jayem and guitarist and bass player Ricky 100, the pair have been making waves with their fiercely catchy and colourful indie sound.
Striking a chord with their recorded music, they’ve also become an in-demand live act, playing slots at notable festivals such as RBC Bluesfest, Canadian Music Week and Junofest.
Since making their debut last year with the single “97 Oakleys”, they’ve won over fans and tastemakers alike with their own brand of upbeat indie music. Dropping a string of singles over the last year, they follow their last track “LEMONADE” with their first collaboration to date.
Linking up with fellow Canadian artist The Desert Island Big Band, they bring us their new release with the track “6 Shooter”. When The Desert Island Big Band challenged Wotts to create something new using elements of the original version, titled “Six Shooter”, Wotts jumped at the chance to reimagine the song and put their own spin on the track, injecting it with their vibrant sonic vision.
Crafting a hazy indie rock sound, Wotts take on the track draws on the instantly memorable elements of the original, wrapping it up in their dreamy aesthetic. As the perfect accompaniment to “Six Shooter”, both tracks have been paired on a split-release, with a physical release on vinyl set for later this summer.
