Norwegian act Glassmanet has been heralded as one of the county’s most interesting artists of the moment, and after you hear Glassmanet’s music, it’s easy to see why. The project is led by an audio/visual artist from the Nordic region and offers a fiercely original take on the psychedelic and dream pop styles to create something entirely new.
In 2020 the project was introduced with the release of the debut track titled “Spaceholder (Placeholder)”, unveiling the artist’s creative vision and earning comparisons to acts such as Tame Impala, Cocteau Twins, My Bloody Valentine, Lush, FKA Twigs, Portishead and Grimes.
The multi-instrumentalist has struck a chord with fans and tastemakers alike, with the first offerings delighting new listeners and being picked up and praised by several underground radio stations and magazines. Following up the debut single with two more tracks released last year with “Mute My Mind” and “Drown Out”, Glassmanet now brings us the latest offering with the new single “Waves Cannot Be Crushed Into (part 1)”.
With the new single, the enigmatic artist lays down the project’s fuzziest soundscape so far on a track that’s also the lead single from the upcoming debut Glassmanet album. Fusing a mixture of 60s, 70s and modern psychedelic inspirations with a blend of grunge and shoegaze tones, on “Waves Cannot Be Crushed Into (part 1)” the artist spins an energetic and complex indie-galactic experience that serves to build excitement for the forthcoming debut record.
