Based in Cleveland, Ohio, Alex Forte is a hip hop artist on the rise, armed with the all round writing, rapping and producing talents that set him apart from the crowd. Growing up with a passion for hip hop and rap music, today he blends soul-focused melodic writing with Midwest-style flow to create his own original sound.
Making his introduction in 2017, he shared his debut single “Summer Jazz” which he’s since followed up with a string of well-received tracks as he runs through his unique hip hop style. Gaining recognition from fans and tastemakers alike, he’s racked up tens of thousands of streams of his music, with his tracks finding placements on Spotify editorial playlists such as Discover Weekly and Daily Mix.
Now, on his inevitable upward trajectory, he brings us his latest single with the new track titled “Gone With The Wind”. While his previous release, “BLACK”, offered a hard-hitting cut, his latest work lays down a lo-fi vibe, full of laid back rhythm and smoky instrumental textures.
Written about the struggles that an artist goes through while expressing his art and navigating everyday issues in life, “Gone With The Wind” spins a jazz-infused arrangement beneath Alex Forte’s lyrical flair. Capturing the very best of modern lo-fi energy, paired with the artist’s trademark rapping prowess, his latest track offers a new side to his engaging sound.
Commenting on the track, the artist shares, “Gone with the wind is an uncomfortable truth of the reality of my life. The ups and downs we go through everyday as a creative. It’s a vulnerable expression of ptsd but trying to not let the negative take over your mind.”
Reflecting on the song’s influences, he adds, “Well when I made the beat, it had such a chill but melancholy vibe to it. The piano reminded me of one of my favourite Kanye tracks Everything I Am and I wanted to play off of that but in my own way. I would take that same soulful feel but talk about my own experiences.”
