Danish-Dutch trio Subterranean Street Society offer a highly original sound that blends elements of folk, alternative and grunge styles. Formed by vocalist and guitarist Louis Puggaard-Müller, Ivo Johan Schot on bass, guitar and vocals and drummer and singer Joost Koevoets, the outfit crafts a timeless style of delicate writing that spins bohemian stories of tragic heroes and romantic tales as well as recounting the life and times of musicians traveling between shows, festivals and busking on European streets.
With their live shows, they bring their compositions to life on stage, delivered via their raw presence and exciting energy. Over the years they’ve graced stages across Europe with tours in countries such as Holland, Germany, Denmark, the UK, Italy and Russia as well as performing on the Dutch tv-show ‘2 meter sessies’.
Making their recorded music debut in 2016, they shared their first single with “Before History Repeats” shortly followed by their debut full-length record I’ll Leave Me Before You Do. Multiple critically-acclaimed and well-received releases since, as well as having their music featured in the Netflix original series Ragnarok, this year they’ve released a new acoustic album called Fado.
Stripping their songs back and taking them to their roots, on Fado the band shares fourteen tracks inspired by love and heartbreak. Lifted from the album comes the lead single “Fear Of Fond Farewells”, a stunning song written about the sobering realisation that a relationship has run its course and has come to its end.
A truly beautiful piece full of moving and poignant writing, in its acoustic arrangement, “Fear Of Fond Farewells” sees Subterranean Street Society lay down some of their most emotive work to date. With singer Louis Puggaard-Müller’s smooth and smoky vocal delivery carrying gentle melodic leads above an elegant instrumental arrangement, “Fear Of Fond Farewells” showcases the extraordinary talent of the band as both songwriters and performers, providing a highlight in an already decorated musical career.
