Coming from a small town outside of Boston, Massachusetts, now based out of Burlington in Vermont, e!ena is a singer-songwriter making her own style of jazz-influenced indie pop music. Taking a lengthy break from her sonic pursuits to graduate from college, finish her college hockey career and start working as a medical assistant, this year she’s returned from her hiatus to restart her musical endeavours.
Suffering from ADHD, anxiety and depression disorders, e!ena uses songwriting as a cathartic vehicle to process and cope with her struggles and emotions. Characterised by her smooth vocal work carrying blissful melodic leads over warm and organic instrumentation arrangements, she crafts a captivating sound instilled with profound meaning via her poignant lyricism.
Marking her comeback earlier this year she released her new single “bittersweet”, capturing the feelings of both anxiety and relief that appear when understanding personal identity. Now she’s back with her second track of 2022 with her new single titled “cognitive dissonance”.
Laying down a grooving rhythm with a snapping beat and bassy piano lines, she once again tackles themes of living with anxiety, depression and behaviour disorders with the abrupt melodic shifts reflecting the shimmer of hope that shines through the chaos. With “cognitive dissonance”, e!ena drops a hugely immersive sound that serves to demonstrate her talent as a vocalist and songwriter as she makes her exciting return to music.
