Based in Cleveland, Ohio, Marottes is the new music project from producer and video director Mike Mytnick. Offering a highly experimental take on the synth pop style, Marottes spins deeply immersive and atmospheric electronic soundscapes that unravel the depths of his creative vision in sonic form.
Drawing on his talents as a videographer, he produces and directs all the music video alongside various collaborators to provide perfect visual pairings to his compositions, crafting a groundbreaking audio/visual artistic experience. Reflecting the mind-bending and often tastefully bizarre textures of his music, his music videos spin wildly curious scenes, earning him accolades around the world such as a ranking at the Global Music Awards and New York Movie Awards this year and placements at the Chicago Indie Film Awards, Munich Music Video Awards, and the London Music Video Festivals
Unveiling the Marottes project in 2021, he released the debut single “Empath” which he’s followed up with a string of well-received singles that serve to showcase his extraordinary musical style. Now he brings us his most ambitious work to date with the brand new debut EP titled Languish.
Featuring six new Marottes cuts, on his first EP the artist makes a compelling statement with a stunning body of work. Blending spooky tones of synth-based instrumentation dripping in reverb that stretches for miles, soothing ambient moments and heavily processed vocal leads, from start to finish, on Languish Marottes lays down a captivating sonic journey on a worthy debut EP.
Capturing the sense of languish that many of us still feel in the post-pandemic state of limbo, back to normal but still not quite as it was, the EP covers themes of the potion of emotions that leave us feeling stuck. With monthly remixes lined up from artists such as Wander, JUST PROCESS, Mordaga, Psychoid, Sacred Canopy among others, Marottes is certainly an artist to watch this year and beyond.
