For more than twenty years Alec Berlin has been a session musician in hot demand for both studio work and live performances. His guitar wizardry has seen him add his magic to an endless list of projects as well as sharing the stage with music icons such as Elton John, James Taylor, Ben Folds, Kenny Wheeler and Rufus Wainwright.
Originally from Cleveland in Ohio, he moved to New York City twenty-five years ago to pursue his artistic dreams, which has seen him play in multiple Broadway shows including Greenday’s American Idiot, Rent, Wicked, The Lion King and Bright Star. His talents have also landed him TV appearances on The Late Show with David Letterman, The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon and Good Morning America as well as an Apple TV film version of the Tony Award Winning musical Come From Away for which he featured as a musician on Broadway.
Alongside his work for so many exciting projects, he’s also an accomplished solo artist in his own right, releasing his first album in 2000 with Crossing Paths. Going on to drop a string of albums and singles that showcase his songwriting skill and sheer guitar playing prowess, he now brings us his latest work with his new EP titled Life in the Bog.
Featuring six original guitar-based compositions of five previously released singles with the brand new title track “Life in the Bog”, his new EP is a breathtaking journey through instrumental rock music with piquant jazz touches.
From the upbeat jam of “What I Wish I Had Said”, the breezy groove of “Iota (Not One”, the hard-hitting riff-driven sound of “Flatbush Jaywalk” to the gnarly tones of “Life in the Bog”, throughout the new release Alec Berlin offers a diverse exploration of cutting edge guitar music from an extraordinarily talented artist who continues to operate at the very highest level.
