Hailing from Louisville in Kentucky, Nickelson started out as a live performance project in 2018. Dragging boxes out of the studio to do shows in the local area joined by his talented friends to play other instruments and provide visuals, the artist has since developed to capture his sonic output in the studio.
Taking influence from a broad range of artists such as Talking Heads, Fleetwood Mac, Echoboy and the Chemical Brothers, he’s carved out his own niche in the dance music scene. Esoteric in style and eclectic in nature, the Nickelson project pulls inspiration from the natural world as well as other musicians to create something entirely new.
Unveiling the endeavour this year, the artist dropped his debut release in February with the double-sided single Nx1. Followed up by a string of singles and the first Nickelson EP titled ‘Pilots Lounge’, as well as a live show at The Big Stomp Festival in Kentucky last month, he now brings us his latest release with the new single “Eldritch Thrumming”.
Dropped just as Autumn arrives, with his latest work he spins a twisted nu-disco cut to create a Halloween house outing. Driven by an energising snapping beat, big grooving bass lines and spooky sonic touches from synths and samples, with “Eldritch Thrumming” Nickelson lays down a mysterious and ghostly sound wrapped up in an infectious dance style.
