Hey Jacob, how are you?
I’m doing very well. Excited about this last drop!
“Higher” is your latest release, what inspired you to produce this track?
The melodic rhythm of the song “Smooth Criminal” by Michael Jackson inspired the foundation of this track. Check it out and see if you hear any similarities.
Which sound or element of “Higher” is your favourite?
The bridge consists of an electric guitar solo which I think was dope and super creative, not something you typically hear in dance music.
Did you have any struggles while working on this song?
Sometimes selecting the main melody is a bit difficult. Walking away from the song for a bit and coming back to it to see if it still inspires a reaction is really the key to deciding how to progress through a song.
What would you like to achieve with this new release?
Definitely want to broaden my fan base, with this track.
How would you describe “Higher” to someone who hasn’t heard it yet?
New and fresh. It’s a blend of Deep House, Tech House, Tribal and Pop.
Who are your latest musical inspirations?
I listen to a variety of artists like Kanye West, B Young, Drake, Wizkid, Wisin y Yandel, Bad Bunny.
Who would you like to collaborate with in the future?
Post Malone. I like his vibe and definitely would love to set up a nice template for him to sing over. He’s got a dope vibe I can see myself rocking to.
How has your sound developed over the last months?
I’m always exploring different ways to approach house music. I’ve gotten into a lot of Tech House lately. I feel the bass moves well with the drums I like to create.
Finaly, what’s coming up for Jacob Colon?
Stay tuned on my socials to see. I’m always cookin’ up.
