subduxtion is a talented DJ and music producer whose darker and mysterious signature sound is evident with every hard-hitting release he puts out. His minimalistic touch surely finds its way to the top of the list of acts to follow, as he continues to amaze with his musical ability and surefire taste in mixing and curating the best episodes for his radio show ‘Dark Signals Radio’.
While this iconic trailblazer continues to drop hard-hitting music and episodes of his radio show, we wanted to ask him about his summer, what kind of projects he worked on and his hopes for next year. Check out our interview with subduxtion below.
Hey subduxtion, how are you?
Greetings to you, I’m doing very well, thank you.
Summer is officially over, we wanted to know; what have you been up to during this season?
I spent the summer months focusing on my weekly radio show, ‘Dark Signals Radio’. I think I’ve honed in on the “sound” of the show. I’m very pleased with how the show has developed sonically.
Have you got a summer highlight?
The summer highlight would have to be my ‘Rezone’ release on Internet & Weed. The two tracks that are part of the release are two of my favourite tracks that I’ve done. The overall response has been very, very positive.
Which artists have been on repeat for you during summer?
MRC Riddims and BKGD Audio both released really good albums this year that I played non-stop as well as on my radio show. Alongside those two, Dimitri Molosh, PJ Harvey, The Cult, Noveller, Hans Zimmer, Merc Yes and Queen.
You released an EP not too long ago; can you tell us what it was like working on that release?
The release is entitled ‘Rezone’ and is out on New York label, Internet & Weed. I spent a few months working on it. Like almost all of my tracks it went through numerous revisions before finally being released. I really tried not to repeat myself musically. I spent a lot of time just trying new arrangements and parts to make something that was different from my previous releases.
Your radio show ‘Dark Signals Radio’ has been keeping momentum during summer as well, can you tell us more about the latest milestones achieved with the show?
The biggest milestone is that the show celebrated its six month anniversary! During the time the show has been going it’s been added to a number of stations worldwide and airs six days a week.
Would you like to have special guests for the show in the future?
Definitely. That’s something I’d like to do as I get closer to the one year anniversary. It would be a great way to celebrate that milestone.
Were there any new projects you worked on last season?
Summer was actually pretty quiet for me. After the release of ‘Rezone’ my focus shifted to ‘Dark Signals Radio’ and working on new tracks for release next year. I want to release more EPs alongside singles.
What are you looking forward to doing next summer?
I’m really looking forward to getting out and playing in front of an audience. By summer I’ll have enough tracks of my own to put together a really good live show.
