Growing up with Ugandan parents in Zambia, hip hop artist Proklaim is now based in the Namibian capital of Windhoek. Moving to the new country for University, in his final year he started to write his own original material and took his first steps on his solo artistic journey.
Now an established businessman and skilled athlete – he’s been passionate about fitness in his teens and has since intensified his sporting pursuits and folded his physique into his artistic image – his musical endeavours are reflective of the determination and energy he’s displayed throughout his life.
Drawing inspiration from a range of artists including Wutang Clan, Lauryn Hill, Nas, Tupac, Eminem, Big Pun and Jay-Z, as Proklaim he spins conscious hip hop characterised by his profound lyricism full of thoughtful and important messages and observations. In 2018 he introduced the world to Proklaim when he dropped his debut single “One Way” and has since dropped a string of singles that have earned him recognition from fans and tastemakers alike all over the globe in the build up to his debut album Zion’s Hill.
Bringing us the final single released before his first record, he shares the track titled “YSL”. Delivering the perfect taste of his lyrical flair and vocal performance prowess, with “YSL” Proklaim cooks up an electrifying hip hop cut.
Reeling of his blistering vocal flow that snaps between rapid-fire bars and melodic chorus lines, he sets his voice over a delicate beat-driven arrangement of fluttering high-end instrumentation to create a truly must-hear piece of hip hop music.
