Coming from the Hertfordshire town of Hemel Hempstead, just north of London, The Shantlys formed in a time when real rock stars still ruled supreme. While they take influence from artists such as The Beatles, the Rolling Stones, The Who, Oasis and The Sex Pistols, the band creates a sound that’s entirely their own with inspiration from Motown musicianship and the poignant lyricism of Johnny Cash.
Over the years they’ve enjoyed a decorated musical career that’s seen them tour extensively and play thousands of shows as well as playing alongside several of their idles. With their studio music, they’ve recorded at legendary places such as Abbey Road and Sawmills studio to build a truly impressive catalogue of music.
Showing no signs of slowing down, they now bring us their latest release with their new single titled “The Proposal”. Written when inspired by the band’s rhythm guitarist Scally’s recent engagement, the stark shift of maturity washed over the group, a sentiment that’s reflected in their dazzling new song.
A celebration of love and a recognition of emotional growth, with “The Proposal”, The Shantlys offer a triumphant indie rock track that confirms their reputation as a treasured British band who continue to deliver musical magic. Packed full of jubilant energy and infectious vocal leads “The Proposal” captures a charming sound that everyone can say yes to.
