London-based artist Maya Yenn has been making waves in the UK and beyond with her pioneering brand of alternative pop music. Taking influence from the upbeat grooves of artists such as Jungle and Glass Animals as well as the more experimental styles of James Blake, FKA twigs and BANKS, she filters her inspirations through her own sonic lens to create a groundbreaking and genre-bending sound unlike anything else.
Growing up in rural England, she supported Dan Croll and Stealing Sheep during her formative teenage years before moving to London to develop as an artist and pursue her sonic dreams. When the pandemic struck, she moved back to her parents’ Staffordshire home where she’s continued to work on her creative vision, making inventive beats on TikTok with found sounds from samples of everyday objects and sharing her original material with fans around the world.
Her creativity and innovative use of sound shines through in her studio releases ever since making her entrance with her debut single “tiptoe” in April last year. Followed up with two further original singles, she now brings us a remix of her sophomore track titled “How Much Sadness Can You Swallow?” by fellow London-based producer Jasno.
Following the success of the original track, Maya Yenn hands the reins over to the electronic artist to put his own trance house style spin on the song. Dropping an energising and atmospheric sound, Jasno’s remix of “How Much Sadness Can You Swallow?” blends pounding beats, driving bass and stretching electronic textures to surround Maya’s ethereal vocal lines.
With the original being written about an intense nightmare that Maya Yenn describes as “a vision of hell”, Jasno takes the context for the music and re-imagines it in an immersive dance setting to create a stunning remix of an already captivating song.
