Based in Georgetown, Tough On Fridays started out as an acoustic duo formed by guitarist and vocalist Caleigh and singer-bassplayer Carly in 2017 but over the last five years they’ve undergone a thrilling sonic evolution that now sees them deliver a charged indie rock sound. Now joined by studio and touring drummer Chris Schreck, they craft their own original sound that takes influence from artists such as Paramore, Basement, Brand New and Third Eye Blind.
After dropping their debut single in 2017 with the track “Little Italy”, they’ve gone from strength-to-strength with a plethora of stellar releases. Winning over fans and tastemakers alike, they’ve delivered a stunning catalogue of music via several singles, EPs, 2020’s debut full-length A Fantastic Way To Kill Some Time and they’re showing no signs of slowing down as they continue to roll out their enthralling artistic vision.
Taking their music to the stage, they’ve delighted scores of fans playing alongside renowned acts including He Is We, War Twins, Not Ur Girlfrenz, The Dollyrots, Pat Green, The Accidentals and Peleface, gracing venues all across the south of the USA as well as playing festivals such as the prestigious SXSW and Carolina Indie Fest.
Now they bring us their latest work with their sophomore record titled The Encore You Didn’t Ask For, released via the Australian imprint Archangel Records. Dropped to critical acclaim, the new eight-track LP showcases the very best of the powerful Tough On Fridays sound, packed full of storming alternative anthems wrapped up the band’s gritty modern grunge stylings.
Testament to just how far Tough On Fridays has come since their humble acoustic beginnings, with The Encore You Didn’t Ask For they drop a raucous high-octane sonic journey that leaves you both energised and breathless. Capturing the engaging charm of pop punk aesthetics with the impact of hard hitting punk, The Encore You Didn’t Ask For sees the sensational band take the best of rock music and produce a work that adds so much more.
Driven by crunching guitar tones, punching drums and capped by the act’s trademark dual vocal performances, with their second album Tough On Fridays reveal their magnum opus to close another successful year for the band and builds excitement for their next moves in 2023 and beyond.
