A new year comes with new ambitions, resolutions and projects. 2023 arrived and Kardano is ready to share what he has in store for the coming months.
We sat down with Kardano to talk more about what their plans are for the new year. Check out our interview with Kardano below.
Hey Kardano, 2023 is here and we’d like to know what are your hopes for this year regarding your music career?
Bookings and more bookings it’s my dream at the moment, I’m into giving my time away to the film industry, I don’t want to go back but if I have to, I will.
Finishing music is really not a hard part, since I have many tracks done, it’s about finding a good home with labels so hopefully bigger labels will say the word yes.Â
What are your top 3 resolutions for this new year?
- Stay at the gym.
- Have more patience; the film business can really change you if you’re in it long enough.
- Show more love to other artists.
Do you have any releases in the pipeline for the upcoming months?
Yes, I have a release sometime in February with Lenny Fontana’s label Karmic Power.Â
A release in the works with Play Records, lots of songs from my album are getting remixed by other artists at the moment and I’m collaborating with a cool Disco House label called Mango Sounds just trying to work out dates.
If you could pick any event, any stage, any place: where would you like to perform in 2023?
Bass Coast, Shambhala, Burning Man, Ultra and EDC, whatever is cool, I guess lol.
And following on from that, if the world was your oyster for selection, who would you like to collaborate with this new year?
Sam Smith seems very out of reach lol.
Are there any new hobbies or activities you’d like to try in 2023?
I’m happy with video games, the gym and producing music.
Are there any new skills or new gear that you’d like to implement to your studio in 2023?
3 Way Monitors and a summing mixing with more inserts. But gear is the last thing on my mind, now if I really need it…
From a production standpoint, what would you say is the number one area you would like/need to invest time into in order to develop your production level?
Mapping out different formats when making a song. A lot of the time with mixing and sound design I always think of myself as a student, really. In production and mixing there is always someone better than you.
Any new genres you’d like to explore next year?
I enjoy House too much I’ve been trying to produce Minimal House and does not seem to be going that way, because I feel I’m staying too complex with chords and adding too many notes and bars and changes, but whatever, I feel I’m making some cool stuff at the moment and that’s what matters to me.
New sub-genres come and go into fashion every year, what are your predictions for 2023?
I don’t pay attention to that, neither do I chase that train, I feel people slap names onto things to became known more easily, why don’t I say I produce West Coast Disco and see how that goes, maybe it might be cool.
Besides yourself, which artists or labels should people follow this year?
Artists: Max Chapman, Low Steppa, Joel West, good Techno guy friend of mine from Vancouver, Sivz she’s from Vancouver too, James Poole, Yurie she’s also from Vancouver and Sam Steel he’s from Vancouver as well, and makes some real cool Disco House. There are some many names I could say.
Labels: South of Saturn, Pop Gang Records, Deeperfect, ESUOH, Mango Sounds, Defected, Toolroom, there are really so many labels to list, many I’ve forgotten.
Make a prediction for 2023 about the world or music and we’ll try and catch you this time next year to see if it came true!
The term West Coast Disco, if that gets thrown around then I would laugh my ass off which 100% would not happen, if so, we will have big conversation.
Do you have a message for your followers for new year?
Be yourself, enjoy life.
