monski shares ‘CODE EP’

Based in Stuttgart, Germany, monski is a producer who draws on his hip hop roots to create beat-driven instrumental music. After coming across the sounds of DJ Krush on a 90s skateboard video on VHS, his mind was opened to the possibility of creating beats without rapped bars or vocals and has since ventured out as monski to deliver his original creative vision.

Blending warm organic instrumentation with electronic tones, he crafts mesmerising soundscapes that immerse the listener in their grooving wonder. Taking influence from a range of different styles including trip hop electronica, downbeat music and jazz, he filters his inspirations through his own unique sonic lens to offer a timeless sound washed in hazy lofi aesthetics.

Unveiling the monski sound last year, in March he dropped his debut cut with the track “Code 0001” and now brings us his first EP titled CODE EP which features his premiere song alongside “Code 0002”. The EP was composed and produced for the art house street photography and skateboarding shortfilm called BASSVERKEHR which you can view below.

Shot on Super8-film, the scenes in the film pair perfectly with monski’s sepia-toned soundtrack. Fusing electronic beats with hand-played synthesisers, double bass and guitars, on CODE EP the producer spins an enveloping sound via two exquisite lofi jams.

With touches of jazz shining through, monski paints a vibrant sonic picture full of subtly driving rhythm, delicate atmosphere and piquant melodic writing. Showcasing his talent as a composer and producer, with CODE EP monski makes a worthy entrance that builds excitement for the new artist in 2023 and beyond.
