Iconic DJ and music producer Melleefresh keeps inspiring and pushing boundaries with her unique style and outstanding sound.
Her experience in the studio and behind the decks has certainly earned her a top spot on the list of artists to follow. With a background on different artistic fields, her reach and skills are endless.
We sat down with her to learn more about her life aside from music. Check out our interview with Melleefresh below.
Hello Melleefresh! how are you?
I’m saved from my appendicitis and I’m happy to be alive. I do not recommend appendicitis.
Do you have any hobbies or would you like to try a new one?
I love making cupcakes and cakes, different shapes and sizes, in super bright colours on the inside and the outside. And I decorate them with tons of sprinkles and toys so they look too good to eat. Art Cake.
What do you like to do to relax?
Drive my purple Porsche convertible with the top down, the heat up high, in the middle of winter, blast my music real loud, stop every now and again, and get out ’n dance like a wild thing in front of the headlights dressed up in some mad outfit!!!
How does a perfect weekend look like for Melleefresh?
Dressing up as a runaway bride and taking photos of myself doing normal stuff like filling the car with gas, shopping at the supermarket, and buying flowers.
What can surely always put you in a good mood?
Putting on some makeup – my Maybelline red lipstick (instant good mood), doin’ my hair, getting an amazing outfit together, taking some photos or booking time in the studio and recording a new hit single. Good mood guaranteed for sure!
If you were to start a new career that’s not related to music, what would you do?
Be a doctor. I love watching operations late at night on TV and reading about remedies and solutions, and the effects of prescription drugs, for all that ails you. I remember my husband waking up at 2 in the morning and I was watching a rather gory brain operation. He was disgusted. But I was like, “Go back to sleep, I’m learning stuff!”
If you can meet someone, alive or dead, who would it be and why?
Jay Kay from Jamiroquai. I’ve always been a huge fan. I’d love to collab with him.
Where’s a destination you’ve always wanted to visit?
Venice, to ride in a gondola. And go to the Venice Biennale.
Favourite series or film?
TV: Better Call Saul, Billions, and Sky Rojo.
Film: anything by Wes Anderson or Tarantino. I love both their ensembles of amazing actors. Their scripts, their art direction, both these directors rock my world!
What top 3 things are on your bucket list?
1. Melleefresh Road Show – a huge, touring production with me singing and DJing with all my BFF DJ & showgirl friends. Visual projections, amazing costumes, too much fun, in stadiums.
2. I would like to make another Art Car at some point and drive it in the Dakar Rally.
3. Going to the North Pole in search of Santa.
