SRVR, the South London producer-songwriter duo, is making waves with their new single “You Are”. The song is stunning work of melodic indie rock that features soulful vocals paired with shuffling percussion and delicate guitar leads that make it a truly sensational song.
Recorded and mixed at 123 Studios, London with Rob Wilks, who’s previously worked with the likes of Foals, Lianne La Havas and Florence + the Machine, “You Are” is the outfit’s sophomore released from the their studio sessions and is a teaser for their upcoming debut album set to drop later this year.
SRVR’s sound draws inspiration from an eclectic mix of artists, including the likes of Bowie, Arcade Fire, and Massive Attack, giving their music a unique blend of jazz, blues and rock elements. The duo’s first single, “Birdman”, was met with critical acclaim in 2022 and showcased their ability to combine different genres into a cohesive sound that’s both refreshing and captivating.
The vocals on “You Are” are particularly noteworthy, with lead vocalist Vincent Rouge delivering a soulful and emotive performance that complements the song’s arrangement and energy perfectly. The instrumentation on “You Are” is equally impressive, with Sidney Rivers’ bass and percussion work providing a solid foundation for the song, while Vincent Rouge’s guitar performance adds a playful and melodic flair.
Overall, SRVR’s “You Are” is a dazzling new single that showcases the duo’s musical talent and ability to craft unique and compelling songs. The elegant vocals, piquant guitar work, and shuffling percussion make for a sound that’s impossible not to love, drawing the listener in with its emotional depth and musical complexity. As the duo gears up to release their debut album later in 2023, “You Are” is a promising taste of what’s to come from this exciting new act.
